First post on Reddit so \~here we go\~ just got my Equity Card (yay) but im wondering if I can use a separate name for my performance art. Much of the performance art world is not Equity so I want to be able to continue in that world but I don't want to get in trouble with Actors' Equity. Any help would be appreciated

As a new actor applying for roles/opportunities do you think it is worth attempting to write, shoot and act in your own stories and put it out there? OR to just focus character learning and applying for roles?

Hi everyone. I’m a 23 year old man the UK who hasn’t got any sort of acting experience but I’ve always been fond of it. I’ve always read about actors and watched documentaries on acting and have always been fascinated by it. Like a lot of people it’s a desire I didn’t act on and now I’m at an age where I don’t think I’…

I am auditioning for Sense and Sensibility by Kate Hammill at the end of the month. I am trying for Elinor or Fanny/Lucy (this version can cast the same actor for both roles) but preparing the monologue that will set me up for Elinor. Not sure if this is inspirational or just something to share. My first gig out of theatre school in 2000 was a movie directed by someone who made some great 90s films and starred some 90s great stars. I had this scene where I got made up with a whole bunch of fake piercings and then got to improv with the male lead. We…

Do agencies like UTA, MGMT, WMA, CAA, Paradigm, MKS&D, AEFH, etc only sign actors who are SAG? Or do they recruit Non-Union actors and hope the casting directors they send them to audition for would "Taft-Hartley" you if you get the part? Would they sign Non-Union actors who are SAG-eligible but not SAG?
